About us

Architecture mediates between luxury and necessity, between imagination and gravity. This tension appeals to us. Our architecture creates spaces that transcend the limits of construction. It provides an intelligent and engaging response to a cultural need in life and everyday behavior. It has the power to weave a narrative into the built environment, guiding how we perceive and experience the world.

Functional / unruly / poetic

Our architecture transcends the purely functional or aesthetic. It emerges from the societal context, giving meaning to both the building and the surrounding space—not just for its occupants, but for the broader environment. Architecture never exists in isolation; it is always in service of something. The user and the experience remain central.

Our architecture provides structure. Calm, orderly plans offer a clear framework for the chaos of life that unfolds within them. Thoughtfully simple layouts, with careful attention to wayfinding and comfort, create spaces that are legible and comprehensible. They provide orientation and order.

Yet our architecture is also poetic, allowing for dreams. Within a clear plan, there is always room for anomalies that generate surprise, tension, and intrigue. Our architecture is at once clear, efficient, and structuring, while simultaneously challenging, surprising, and somewhat elusive.

Spatial continuum

Our projects are consciously embedded within a continuum, both spatially and temporally. No situation is ever final. We leave room for the future by creating projects that can be built upon. We design buildings that are so well-crafted and cherished that they are destined for a long life. More often than not, we clarify an existing situation and enhance the latent qualities already present, rather than imposing new qualities that feel alien to the context. The building shapes the program and integrates fully and freely into its surroundings. As a result, our projects are never ostentatious, yet always assertive and evidently present.

Trend resilient / beyond sustainability

Sustainability and innovation are essential aspects of our architecture. Our decades of experience help us understand both the past and the challenges of the future. We create logical buildings with a small footprint that endure over time. We design for a client or an individual, but always within a broader societal context. As architects, we navigate numerous societal issues—regulations, economics, ecology, ownership and co-ownership, virtuality, built and unbuilt space, collective and public spaces, manageability, and appropriation. These challenges demand the utmost of our inventiveness to make optimal use of scarce resources and space. We use the language of architecture to create positive impact and added value, socially, culturally, and ecologically.
